On a chilly morning in Abingdon, Virginia with press, staff, and several visitors from Abingdon, England, Town Manager Greg Kelly and Councilman French Moore, Jr were proud to announce the completion of Phase 1 of the Abingdon Wireless Mesh. The announcment was followed by a brief history of the "91st Day Committee" and presentation of a diagrammed map by I.T. Directory Floyd Bailey outlining the current implementation throughout the Historic District and the future plans for the East and West ends of town.

The first phase of deployment took just over 8 months from start to finish and is up and running at high speeds. The second phase deployment is schedule to be completed by the end quarter of 2009 and the final phase by the end quarter of 2010.
