Friday-

Arrive in beautiful historic Abingdon, check into one of the wide variety of B&B’s, hotels or motels and dine at one of our many restaurants choosing from simple to elegant meals.  Attend a spectacular performance at Barter Theatre.  Playing opens your imagination, refreshes your soul, expands your mind, and takes you into new worlds where anything is possible.

 

Saturday –

Start the day off with a trip to the Abingdon Farmer’s Market, where you can sample the freshest local produce and the best handmade goods the area has to offer. After spending the morning at the market, take time to stroll the beautiful downtown and visit the many unique specialty shops.  

Enjoy the scenic drive down to Abingdon Winery and taste their wide variety of wines.  For lunch, travel to nearby Meadowview and visit the Meadowview Farmers’ Guild and The Harvest Table restaurant where you can enjoy locally-sourced cuisine and artisanal goods in their General Store.  Travel to Chilhowie, Virginia and check into Riverstead, the idyllic guest house property of Town House restaurant.  Relax before having anincredible five-course meal of the finest local and seasonal ingredients – many from the morning visit to the Abingdon Farmers’ Market.  Dinner will be prepared for you at Town House by 2010 Food & Wine Best New Chef, John B. Shields, and his wife, Executive Pastry Chef, Karen Urie Shields.
