Come and Enhance your Cycling Experience in Abingdon with Us!
We are a small group of bicyclists who live around Abingdon, Va. Our objective is to improve our own bicycling experiences and promote local bicycling. We can go a long way in doing this by building a network of road and mountain bike riders in the area and by encouraging each other to get out and ride. Most rides start and end near Abingdon because that's where we live. Hopefully as other cyclists from Washington Co. and adjacent areas join us they will suggest additional ride options. Currently the calendar contains only road rides.
One of the world's most interesting rock formations. Camping on-site.
Backbone Rock is one of the most unusual rock formations in the world. It is a long, narrow stone ridge that extends from adjacent Iron Mountain. "The rock" stands approximately 75 feet high and 20 feet thick. Beautiful Backbone Rock Falls is located just across the road!
Backcountry is 100 acres of private access to the Mount Rogers Recreation Area.
Ride in small guided groups out on the north side of Iron Mountain. Take a trail home. Reservations accepted for same-day-rides, just give us a head start on saddling up your horse.
Enjoy the Mount Rogers Area with us!
Located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Campground located in diverse vegetation. Facilities provided include restrooms and a playground. Iron Mountain Trail and surrounding trails open year-round. This area also offers a 14 acre lake for fishing or swimming. A Virginia state fishing license, trout stamp, and National Forest stamp are required. These can be purchased at local stores, but not at the campground.
