ABINGDON IS A MAIN STREET COMMUNITY

Abingdon received designation as a Virginia Main Street Community in 2007 and was accredited in 2010 as a National Main Street Program.  Advance Abingdon is a non-profit organization run primarily by volunteers which oversees Abingdon's Main Street Program.  The organization's goal is to work with local leaders, business and residents to ensure that the Town is a vibrant, welcoming place to live, work and shop while contributing to the preservation of Abingdon's unique historical characteristics. The Main Street four-point approach of organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring is essential to the success of this program.
