What is C.A.S.T.?
Coomes Area Swim Team is a blend of fitness and competitive swimming for children and young adults. C.A.S.T. swimming is based on regular, structured workouts using training techniques to promote fitness and competitive swimming. Anyone aged 5 to 18 are welcomed into United States Swimming Organization. The objectives of USS Swimming are fun, fitness, friendship and participation.
Competitive opportunities?
There are opportunities for competition, but no one is obligated to compete. There are club and open meets, as well as championship meets throughout the calendar year.
Does everyone have to compete?
Many swimmers swim just to keep in shape or for cross training for another sport. You may choose to measure your progress by the increased distances you swim, the time you take, the decreased rest you need and or your general feeling and well-being after a workout.
Fees?
There will be an annual registration fee of $55.00. This fee will cover your registration fee with United States Swimming Organization. Monthly fees of $25.00 for the first child, $20.00 for the second child and $15.00 for the third child will apply to all enrolled swimmers. Fee covers coach’s time, workouts, newsletters and administrative charges. Additional fees for competitions will apply if you compete.
Mascot?
We have adopted the sea tiger as our official mascot.
Training and Instruction?
We will have a coach available at the practice sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. Workouts will be available for those who wish to train on Tuesday, and Thursday mornings. Videos are available to check out. Individual, one-on-one sessions can be scheduled. Special swim clinics will be offered throughout the year.
When and Where are Practices?
Locations: Practices will be held at the Coomes Recreation Center Swimming Pool
Times: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Coach on deck with workout. Workouts will be left in a special swim team binder if you wish to come and work out on Tuesday or Thursdays mornings 6:00 am to 7:30 am; no coach on deck. (Parent supervision is Required)

What is Summer Swim League?
Summer Swim League is a swimming program that allows all children and young adults the ability to swim on a competitive level. It introduces the participant to structured swim practices as well as structured swim meets. Summer league promotes fitness, self esteem, and teamwork while creating an environment that fosters new relationships.
Swim Meets?
There are 4 summer league meets. These meets introduce children to the challenges the new sport has to offer. The fourth meet is the qualifying heats to determine who moves on to the championship meet at Tennessee high school.
Fees?
There will be an initial fee of $15.00 for each swimmer. This fee covers registrations fees and coaching. There are additional costs for swim apparel.
Mascot?
The Coomes summer swim team is known as the Halibuts.
Training and Instruction?
There will be 2 to 3 coaches for the summer league team that will conduct practices on Monday - Thursday afternoons. They will work on strokes, turns and starts.
Practices?
Location: Harry L. Coomes Recreation Center, 300 Stanley Street, Indoor pool.
Times: Monday - Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm

Masters swimming is a blend of fitness and competitive swimming for adults. Masters swimming is based on regular, structured workouts using training techniques to promote fitness and competitive swimming. Anyone aged 19 and over is welcomed into United States Masters Swimming. The objectives of Masters Swimming are fun, fitness, friendship and participation. Masters Swimming Is For Everyone!

Incentives?
We will offer incentives as you reach certain goals and objectives.
