CIVIL ENGINEER:
Town of Abingdon is currently receiving applications for the position of CIVIL ENGINEER.
This position requires highly skilled work in the planning, design and inspection of public works facilities, ability to prepare accurate scaled construction plans, ability to design a wide variety of public works projects, ability to check plans and plats submitted by developers and consultants for conformance with current standards and regulations, and a thorough knowledge of current practices and methods of public works construction. Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in Civil Engineering and possession of a valid E.I.T. Certificate or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN:
Town of Abingdon is currently receiving applications for the position of CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN.
This position assists Civil Engineer in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering technology in a variety of Engineering and Public Works projects including streets, storm drains, sanitary sewer, structures and related facilities; conducts studies, collect survey and GIS data, and produce professional CAD drawings, contract documents, specifications, and mapping; performs inspection of Town construction projects, reviews plans and inspects developments for adherence to state erosion and sediment control regulations; prepares technical reports for presentation to Town officials, government agencies, and Town citizens. Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology and/or extensive experience in an engineering field. Prefer experience in surveying and engineering fields, Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
